Heart Health Talk

A talk program on heart health was organized on the aegis of the Society and
Heart Foundation of New Zealand at the Society premise. NZNS member Leena Gautam
delivered talk program.
The objective of the presentation was on the Heart Foundation’s mission and
objectives and provided resources and information on having a healthy heart. The
importance of coloured food was explained, especially that of fresh fruits and
vegetables and of physical activity. Other topics were risk factors for
cardiovascular disease (CVD), and the effects of smoking. Nepalis people eat a
lot of vegetables but have a different cooking style. They want advice from
Heart Foundation to modify their cooking to get better nutrition.
The participants enthusiastically participated during the discussion and shared
their views. Many were interested in learning about blood pressure, the effect
of salt and of different types of cereals and legumes in the daily diet. The
participants were very positive about buying tick food products.
The President of the Society thanked to Mrs. Gautam and Heart Foundation of New
Zealand for talk delivery that was well responded by the Society members.
